ODB Nosebleed

Today 5 of us took our comprehensive exams for the Organization of Databases course. Sir John gave us 10 chapters to study and quite frankly I was only able to study hmmm, some some what with final exams also happening at the workplace and the 31 mandatory working hours per week. Reason reason.... ;p

Our professor would sometimes step out of the room (yes he was the one who proctored the exam) and we would laugh amongst ourselves (no talking environment). I imagine my classmates were laughing at the difficulty of remembering how or that they didn't have any clue at all on how to answer the relational algebra questions. Hehehe coz that was exactly what I was laughing about. Oh yeah, I do remember there was this question about Armstrong's Axiom and you know what? I wrote on my paper, "Who is Armstrong? Duh..." Something that I later on confessed to my teacher and we had a good laugh about it over coffee. He said, "Sana nilagay mo, 'Si Neil o si Lance?'" Hahahaha. That's what I like about Sir John, he's cool. Okay that kinda reminded me of Neil, as classmate who did something we thought would piss off our professor. Hmmm

At some point in the exam Sir John asked, "O ano, mahirap ba?" and I who is the baddest egg of them all politely said, "Mahirap na mahirap po". Yes it was really hard. Why? We were dealing with concepts. The exam attempts to gauge an understanding by heart of the subject matter. Something that is difficult to achieve with just a short study time and I say that not only for ODB but for all the other subjects after all to quote our professors Sir John, Sir Jerry, Sir Rolly, and Sir Mel, "We want you to show mastery of the concepts..."

Oh well, so much for trying. Best of luck for the next subject and that will be this coming Saturday, PDIS. =)
