Last February 19, one the couples in our circle of climber friends, Nonoy and Elai finally tied the knot after 11 years of being steadies.
Yeah, I know that is a looong time to be together but you see they are a proof that if you both work on it it would work out. One of the qualities that I admire about them is the enormous respect that they have for each other. They are friends in every sense of the word.
So to show that admiration, I made a crocheted heart pillow in the color of their wedding motiff -- chocolate brown and pink. The pattern that inspired me did not really look this way but basically, I made two big hearts in chocolate brown and a smaller pink heart. I added a fringe using picot stitch to the pink heart. I also used the same stitch to join the bigger heart pieces together. Then I felt that the heart was bare so added a small card with a wedding quote from Robert Frost that said, "Two such as you... cannot be parted nor be swept away from one another once you are agreed that life is only life forevermore together wing to wing and oar to oar. "
Psst, I did something at the reception at the part where the couple dances and the guests take turns pinning money onto the couple. The used angpao and one their friends thought of joining the little envelopes together to form a belt which they filled with coins. Man, she said it was so heavy. Mine was better in my not so humble opinion that I would have wanted to see the look on their faces when they opened my angpao. I stuffed it with a free meal stub from McDo (naks free plugging) where I get to see them lots of times.
Congratulations Nonoy and Elai!!
Thanks so much to Melissa Mall of crochetme.com for sharing her crochet pattern she calls Pieces of My Heart. Her pattern was my inspiration for creating this piece. It was so fun to do and the finished piece was sooo cute that I had wanted to covet the heart for myself. Heck, it wasn't only me who wanted the heart even my officemates did.
Oh yeah, have I told you that crochet is one of my hobbies? Heheheh, I'll feature my finished pieces when I can.
