Community Involvement

I feel narcissistic. That's a pixie of me at our mangrove tree planting this morning. It's a great way to spend the holiday.

To plant the seedling (I dunno why they call them those), we were told to dig a hole 8 inches deep so that the tide wouldn't wash them away that easily. I've done this a lot of times in the same place but I haven't seen any mangrove growing. I expected the seedlings that I planted last year to be trees now but I can't remember where in this area we were last year.

I was surprised to see an earthworm as I was digging my eight. My notion was that earthworms don't thrive on salty water areas. Hmmm... I saw another creature too. One which I coudn't quite name. It looked like a slug, black and about 2 - 3 inches long. It's body was moving in the breathing manner that humans do, it made me think of a breathing sac. I didn't see any leg so perhaps the body movement I described is how the creature moves from place to place. I wouldn't want the camera to be muddied and everybody else's hands were muddy as well so it's a shame I wasn't able to take a picture of it. Well, there still a next time. =)

Addendum:

Joyeux Anniversaire Keloyd!!!
