Aplastic Anemia

I'm sad. Today, I learned that someone I know is in the ICU fighting for his life because of his illness, Aplastic Anemia. He must undergo blood transfusions immediately. But what he needs though is a bone marrow transplant if he must get well. If that is so, then he must be a good candidate. I don't think potential donors are hard to find. What is taxing his family now is the money involved for the operation. It was early December last year when he was diagnosed with the disease. We were shocked because he seemed to be in the pink of health prior to his first hospital episode. He has been in reverse isolation since then.

I'm affected because he is a smart 17 year old kid who has had consistent high grades. I'm affected for his mother who looks like she doesn't know what to do anymore. I salute his mom she's a really strong person. She singlehandedly raised her kids just like my mom. We did a little fund drive today for him I hope that amount would go a long way or something. Gosh I just feel so...
