And so I'm back from outer space...
Yap I was here there and everywhere. After volunteering for the elections I got too unhappy hearing of news of election related violence, vote padding, hurled accusations from all who have vested interests in the elections that I lost the mood for posting. It seems some of us never learn... Anyway I don't want to dwell on those things.
"What have you been doing these past weeks? Have you been hiding under a rock? In hibernation? What?" A friend asked me. I could only smile. Where should I begin? Ok I'll start with...
Elections
As I've said, I volunteered for the quickcount but before I went to my post, I made sure that indelible ink was on my finger. I noticed that the indelible ink they used this year was not as indelible as (hehehe) as the ink they used in 2004. My second brother had to cleaned his finger with alcohol and voila the ink thinned out easily. If I remember correctly, in my elementary years when my parents still believed in elections, the indelible ink would come off completely after what 5 days to a week. This year, it came off after two days. Nah why bother? Flying and living dead voters are not common these days at least not in my city. Cheating is as easy as adding a zero to the number of votes or adding the votes of two candidates together or adding an candidate's vote to another candidate's vote, if you are powerful enough you can even tell the people in your region to vote straight (totally straight) as in what happened in Lanao and Maguindanao. Hah!
It was a reunion of sorts for me and neighborhood friends. I found it funny and odd to be reunited with the neighbor who lives across my house. One of them asked how I was. When it was my turn to ask back, she said, "Ok lang. Meron na akong baby girl. Ikaw? Kelan?" Huhuhu don't pressure me ok! So anyway, after casting my vote I immediately went with my fellow volunteers and started our work. Heheheh earlier I made it a point to have me assigned to the school where my own precinct is located while the others had to contend with what was assigned to them. It was tiring but fun and irritating but funny. Tiring but fun to be periodically making rounds at the 7 precincts that was assigned to me. There were precints that were a delight because they started counting early thus finishing early, there was a precint manned by an elderly BE's ho would call out the full names (including the middle initial) of the senatoriables when what was written on the ballot was only the surname; alas when she came reading the names of the city councilors she would add "councilor" to the full names. Haay we finished at 11:30 PM.
Movies
I got to watch two movies: Shrek 3 and Pirates of the Caribbean 3. What can I say? I just love movies with witty lines.
Sample01:
Charming: You! You can't lie! Where is Shrek?
Pinocchio: Well, uh, I don't know where he's not.
Charming: You don't know where Shrek is?
Pinocchio: On the contrary,
Charming: So you do know where he is!
Pinocchio: I'm possibly more or less not definitely rejecting the idea that I undeniably
Charming: Stop It!
Pinocchio : Do or do not know where he shouldn't probably be. If that indeed wasn't where he isn't!
Sample02:
Jack Sparrow: You know, for pirates, we sure are an unimaginative lot at naming things... I once sailed with a man that had lost both his arms and part of his eye.
Gibbs: What did you call him?
Jack Sparrow: [pause] Larry
Brushing Up
Lately, I have been brushing up on my sewing skills. I dug up my clothes which needed repair and or minor alterations. These are done by hand since I don't have a sewing machine anymore. To date I'm in the middle of a sewing project. A simple tote bag which helped me remember how to use a sewing machine. Thanks to DMA and mom for allowing me to inconvenience them by letting me use their machine. I would have brought the machine to my house if it was the type you can just perch on a table. It will be done when I've finally decided what the emblishment would be. The next sewing project in line would be a pair of drawstring trousers. I have a hard time with zippers, hehehe. Well I hope to finish the first project soon while my work is not yet demanding me to balancing acts.
Gone Fishing!
A person I know happens to breed tilapias as a hobby. So last week, with a coworker and a bunch of other guys we went fishing. Since it was my first, I got very much excited. I thought, "Hmmm another adventure coming." Hehehe, I've mentioned somewhere that while I'm one of the boys I'm every inch a woman. I went fishing in my haltered blouse, pants, heels, dangling earings and makeup. Yap, I did. Notorious right?!? I caught 4 fishes that I had to return to the water because they were too young. Oh the big fishes were there alright, I could even see them swim by the bait! Which was an irritating thing. I just can't understand how the guys are better at catching fish. Is there some special skill that the guys have? Anyway, the fresh fish was grilled arranged on a leaves. We ate pinoy style, with our hands. It was a fun picnic. I realized that fishing is a test of patience and since I clearly lost it that day, I was not able to bring home somee. Well, I'll try harder next time, if there ever is a next time. =)
Aparador
Yesterday after doing a ton of laundry I had nothing else to do. I finished reading a book so there was nothing else to read. I've not yet on what design I was gonna be doing on the bag. There was nothing on tv or the radio. My Heroes still lacked one episode and I didn't want to watch it. I was left with nothing to do, so I decided to clean my clothes closet. Waddayouknow, I rediscovered some old stuff aside from old clothes: Love letters and cards from friends, show tickets, diaries, little notes that I wrote, birthday greetings, a book on a sensitive topic hence it was hidden, a small painting I got from a person I befriended when I visited Xavier University in Cagayan de Oro. Some of those things date back from as far as college days. I can't believe I still have them. It was fun to be rereading those things. Nostalgia...
After rereading and remembering I decided to give away those clothes I haven't been wearing for years. The oversized shirts might go the youngest brother if he would have them. He's quite picky. My sister does not like my choice of blouses and dress so I guess I'll give them to someone else. Lastly my t-shirt collection will definitely stay even if I haven't worn them at all. Selfish? Nah, I just value the memories that are associated with those shirts. They are not ordinary shirts that you can easily buy at the mall and they're not even from a particular brand. My collection consists of to mention a few: a shirt that has the inscriptions, Cartoon Network and Sustagen which I got when I volunteered for their Dive In Theater in the year 2000; then there's the shirt that says "Hugs not drugs"; my University departmental shirts; however my most special shirt would have to be the one from DMA, he was my significant other when he gave me that pasalubong when he came back from Manila. Haayy I might never part with them at all. Hehehe.
Updated my earworm again. I saw the band Blondie sing this song Heart of Glass with Lily Allen in a cable show. I just had to have it playing here. Lily Allen has this different quality to her voice that reminds me of Natasha Bedingfield and yet... So the next song that I will feature will be Lily Allen's Smile which I heard her sing on The Ellen Degeneres Show. That is if I don't remember the title of that other Blondie song about a girl who vows that she was gonna get him somehow... ;p
timing.. alam mo im not kidding pero i nakapunit talaga ako ng 4 na boxers dis week..
ReplyDeletehah! bakit naman kaya nangyari yun? hmmm, baka naman napasobra sa... if you were somewhere near id gladly mend them for you with matching design pa hehehehe... anong gusto mo hearts or flowers? hekhekhek
