Java, not the coffee...

It's not Indonesia either.

I am taking part in a certain Java Training Seminar. It started yesterday and will end tomorrow. Honestly, the only Java I know and is well acquainted is the coffee. I've never programmed in Java my life although I've heard lots of pros and cons about this PL. I've seen a bunch of Java codes and they kinda looked intimidating when you've been exposed to drag and drop. If you're a programmer or you're into IT I guess you know what I mean. Now, it's ok that I don't know anything 'coz I share the same sentiments with most of my co-participants. Heheheh...

Now seminars for me are synonymous to sitting down and pretending to understand the topic, or that I like the topic (or the speaker). Also there's the occasional nod and looking at the speaker with furred brows to emphasize that I'm really really listening when in fact I'm just blogging. Hehehe pasaway! And then it hit me, we were asked to either present assigned topics or simple machine problems. Ouch! The last time I've made serious coding was way back in college for my thesis.

Last night, I wasn't able to sleep early just as I intended. I installed JDK and a particular light Java IDE because I want to try my hand at the machine problem I was assigned. All went well until I tried executing some codes. They wouldn't execute or run no matter what I do. Out of confusion, I uninstalled the IDE and went to sleep. Now, during our discussion today, I realized I forgot to do setpath. Boinks!

The presentation is really really simple. I was just asked to make a Java Applet that has a label which displays a number, and two button named Increment and Decrement respectively. If I click Increment, the number displayed on the label gets to be incremented vice versa. I can do it easily in another PL however but not having any Java experience I became really desperate. Out of desperation, I opened my Java book. Yes I do have a Java book but it was not much of a help. Golly, this is reminiscent of my college days! Later in the day, I was able to solve the problem but not before I had nosebleeds. This is very challenging. Sana lang hindi ako tamarin...

Babooo!!
