yesterday the whole city had no electricity for 10 hours or so and as a consequence no water. we would usually have isolated brownouts from time to time if there is a maintainance thing that's gonna happen and normally last anywhere from an hour to 3 hours. in that span of 10 hours the power went on and off that we decide to stop working on the computer fearing that the outage would eventually cause harm to the hardware. all of us just sat in the office chatting the whole 8 hours of work away. at first it was a nice idea to just sit there and do nothing. so we thought...
when the 4th hour came and still no power, we were all alarmed. at the kuro kuro session the topic went from the unfortunate thing of being trapped in the office with no airconditioning to whatever is causing the outage. one theory that came out was that the power company was having technical problems they couldn't resolve easily another was that rebel groups bombed power substations somewhere blah blah blah. it's not good to jump into conclusions, one must have facts so i scanned the Internet for local news but nothing came of it. i guess the online local newspapers don't update in real time - breaking news. anyway my idea was that it was just a test, a sort of social experiment to see what our reactions would be if there was a power outage that long. what for? the coming local sk and barangay elections. hmmmm, how important are they anyway?? later in the day, it turned out, that the power station somewhere in lanao bogged down affecting a greater area of mindanao.
