Legalization of Prostitution

I posted this question in another site:

UN recommends the LEGALIZATION of PROSTITUTION. Wachathink guys.

This was one of the answers:
it would be the same as UN telling the world that each and every women can sell themselves... some live because of it..some suffer..but in the long run...diseases? abuse of women became legal ? how can those women live their elder years? absolutely not... thats what I think.
Legalization of Prostitution

Hours ago I posted a question about UN recommending the legalization of prostitution in the Philippines. Thank you to those who answered the question. Now here is my take.

PROSTITUTION they say is the oldest profession. I feel that I have to correct the notion that prostitutes are solely WOMEN because there are in fact male, lesbian, and gay persons who make this their profession.

In other countries, prostitution is legal. This means that prostitutes must have working permits, must regularly have health checks, and are also protected by law as you would those in other professions. One big advantage of having working permits and health checks is that we will be able to monitor the number of AIDS and other STD cases in the country due to sex as a profession because mind you there are other ways to contract these diseases.

Prostitutes are humans. There are myriad reasons why they chose that life yet I'm not saying I am condoning their actions. Some were exploited while some chose to be exploited.

Should we legalize it then? I think not. There may be other alternatives in registering sex workers for the purpose of monitoring STD and AIDS cases, it's better for us to explore alternatives first.
